Community — It’s Personal!

Choose the community that makes you feel at home

When you think “new home” do you immediately picture a gorgeous gourmet kitchen or a beautiful backyard retreat?  It’s great to envision the elements of your dream home, but before you focus on its fine points, spend a few moments considering its location!

The community you choose will determine countless small details affecting your future daily routine:  can you grab a good cup of coffee along your morning commute?  Where can you stop for gas, or that grocery item you need to complete dinner? Is there a place for the kids to play outside on a sunny day?  Small details like these can have a powerful influence on how happy you and your family will be in your new home and neighborhood! Here are a few to consider.

A convenient location

A well-planned community will offer your dream home situated within easy reach of places that are essential to your personal routine:

  • Education is always important to families, and Boise and its surrounding areas of  MeridianEagleNampaMiddleton, and Kuna offer a variety of choices, including public, private and charter schools. Check online to research specific education information, or ask a Sales Consultant at any Coleman community. They’re experts on what each community has to offer, and since many are parents themselves, they can lend even more insight into the education options available at each prospective neighborhood.
  • Proximity to work is another big priority! No one likes to spend more time on the road than necessary, and a neighborhood that offers easy access to the freeway or major transportation routes can be an enormous daily timesaver.
  • Consider everyday conveniences! Choosing a neighborhood that’s close to common necessities like grocery stores, gas stations, coffee shops, banks, and restaurants can make a big difference to your daily schedule.  Some well-planned communities are even situated within walking distance of everyday essentials.

An atmosphere you’ll love

Boise and its surrounding areas provide many neighborhoods with attractive entries and safe, well-lit streets, but some have much more to offer.

  • Think about amenities!  Living in a community that offers a swimming pool, playground, and beautiful green spaces can boost the satisfaction you experience in your home, and increase the amount of time you and your family spend at home together.
  • Consider recreation!  If you and your kids appreciate an active lifestyle, then you’ll want to think about a future neighborhood that supports the activities you love. When local parks and places of recreation are close to home, it’s easy to gather the family for an after-dinner walk or join the gang for a game, and some communities even offer their own lush parks and walking paths, so you can meet a friend for a jog just outside your door.
  • Don’t forget ambience! Try visiting communities at different times of day to get a feel for what it’s like to live in each one. Details like surrounding landscape, ambient noise, and even traffic patterns can affect that personal sense of “home” we all crave.

Here at Coleman Homes, we know that “community” is an essential piece of your new home dream, and if you are considering homes for sale in the Boise metro area, you have a lot of options to choose from. We’d love to help make your search a little easier!

Coleman Cares Supports The Wardrobe — Clothing for Foster Children

Local Resource for Foster Families
Gets a New Look and a New Name

With the help of contributions from local businesses, a Nampa resource for foster families known as The Clothing Exchange has re-opened with a refurbished facility and a new name — and here at Coleman Homes, we are so glad we could be part of the effort!

The Clothing Exchange — now called The Wardrobe —  serves as a storehouse and distribution center for clothing, toys and supplies donated to support Idaho foster children. It is operated by One Church One Child, an organization that joins with the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare and other invested partners to improve outcomes for children in Idaho. It has occupied two different locations since its inception in 2014 and relocated to Nampa in 2015, but the facility was short on storage and display capacity for serving the hundreds of foster children that visit each year.

The recent renovation effort has given the facility an improved layout, along with fresh lighting, flooring, and paint. A new storage area and sorting table will help volunteers manage donated inventory, and a shelving and clothing rack system will make it possible to display more items than ever before. A brand-new toy area and remodeled dressing room round out the restoration effort.

“We wanted the kids to be able to come in and feel like they’re shopping, not like they’re getting somebody’s leftovers,” said foster parent Diane Harper, who manages the facility with the help of her husband Kevin Harper. “This remodel really helps create an atmosphere that leaves kids feeling encouraged,” she said.

The renovation was funded by a donation from the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, along with contributions of time and resources from local vendors, including Ashley Glass, Extreme Electric, Idaho Studio, Infinity Signs Northwest, InteriorWorx, JJ’s Floor Covering, Midwest Floors, ProBuild, River City Glass, and Sherwin-Williams. Coleman Homes, A Toll Brothers Company facilitated the remodel as part of “Coleman Cares,” a company effort designed to support the local community through charitable giving and service projects.

“We started out just donating funds to help buy Christmas gifts for foster kids,” said Ryan Hammons, Division Senior Vice President of Coleman Homes, A Toll Brothers Company. “As we got to know the team from One Church One Child, their enthusiasm was infectious and made us want to do something more. This renovation project was the next step.”

The Wardrobe celebrated its renovation and new name with a ribbon cutting event on Friday, May 5.

Coleman Homes, A Toll Brothers Company first lent support to One Church One Child in 2013 with the introduction of their Giving Tree event. Since then, they’ve been grateful for the opportunity to contribute time and resources to this valuable cause.  To learn more about One Church One Child or to make a contribution, please call 2-1-1- Idaho CareLine or visit One Church One Child on Facebook.

Finish & Feature Spotlight — Tyvek® HomeWrap® Makes the Difference

Introducing Tyvek® HomeWrap® by Dupont™

On blustery days when rain spatters the windows and wind howls at the eaves, we appreciate the comfort of sturdy walls around us and a sheltering roof overhead!  Those exterior features like shingles, siding, windows and doors are certainly your home’s first line of defense against the elements — but did you know that what lies beneath also plays a crucial role?

House wrap is a breathable layer that lives beneath your home’s cladding, surrounding it like a windbreaker over a sweater to keep the air comfortable and the structure dry. Here at Coleman Homes, we’re proud to use the best wrap in the business — Tyvek® HomeWrap® by Dupont.™

Tyvek® may look and feel like tough paper, but it’s actually a continuous, uniform web of durable protective materials intersected with millions of microscopic pores per square inch — and it’s packed with benefits for you and your home!

Tyvek® creates a weather-resistant barrier that prevents snow and rain from entering the wall assembly, where it could cause problems like water damage, mold, and mildew. At the same time, the ingenious microscopic pores let your home “breathe” by allowing the interior water vapor created by washing and cooking to pass through to the exterior.  What does that mean for you?

  • Tyvek® protects your investment and gives you peace of mind! You can rest easy knowing that your home is safeguarded against mold growth, wood rot, and other moisture-infiltration problems.
  • Tyvek® keeps you comfortable! Its durable barrier reduces air leaks and drafts, for a home that stays dry and cozy, year ‘round.
  • Tyvek® provides terrific value! Its protective layer improves the efficiency of your insulation and HVAC system, so you’ll spend less on heating and cooling.
  • Tyvek® offers an incredible guarantee of quality! Your professionally-installed Tyvek® Weatherization System comes with a ten-year, $500,000 Product & Labor Warranty backed by Dupont.™

Want to learn more about the benefits that  Tyvek® HomeWrap® will bring to your brand-new Coleman home? Stop by a Sales Center at any one of our communities, where you’ll find an informative display and a Team of Experts, ready to help!
